Adeyemo Shokunbi worked for a number of UK architecture practices before jointly setting-up the architecture office CFA Interiors Ltd that practised throughout the UK across various programs. He moved back to Lagos, Nigeria and in 2007, set up PatrickWaheed Design Consultancy (PWDC). As one of its creative directors, he has been involved in projects of different typologies and scales nationwide. In 2008, as an extension to their design practice, and to fuel their interest in contemporary art, they set up Artistic Licence, a gallery to showcase and champion contemporary Nigerian creative thinking and culture across a wide range of art forms. With them, artists, Alex Nwokolo, Lemi Ghariokwu, Adewale Alimi were able to journey a road less travelled. Adeyemo’s expertise extends to the 'making' of his architecture. The building craftsmanship and their investigative language of material application has to lead him to be part of the New Culture Movement championed by the Sage Demas Nwoko. Adeyemo is currently in the process of setting up a New Culture School of Design with other like-minded individuals. Their main objective is to be able to Make what they design through active interaction with the building process. Adeyemo is a cell head of The Cultural Intellectual Association (CIA - Lagos) which is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting creativity in Nigeria's performance arts, visual arts, architecture and urbanism.Adeyemo is a registered chartered architect with Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (MNIA)With his passion being driven by his belief that collaboration and association with like-minded creatives are what will save this planet from self-destruction, his journey of ‘discovery of self’ is nearing its destination.
