As per the President’s directive in 2009, the rollout of 1000 000 SWH must be installed before end of 2014. (This was the largest rollout of Solar Water Heaters in the World)National Technical Advisor/Project Management (MOUs in excess of R1.9 billion) for the SWH Rebate Program. Liaison with various stakeholders’ SWH manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, installers, external consultants (EON), SABS, Deloitte, 3rd parties, Commercial Institute’s/financiers/banks. Carbon Funding (sustainable energy savings 10 years maintenance). Developing Methodologies for SWH rebate incentives. (Utility pays 90% of installed cost, the remainder either comes from carbon fund or the homeowner. Rebate is thereafter calculated and allocated per custom SWH Residential/Domestic System.Non-Standard Installations Using Domestic Systems: New property developments required ESKOM SWH rebate funds to be ring-fenced for a defined period. This process required SABS approved SWH systems to be used for hot water generated via Solar to pre-feed a large-scale commercial facility or an industrial process.Industrial and Commercial Solar Water Heating: Integrated Demand Management (IDM) Standard Offer Program (SOP) incentive (Rand/kWh).

Solar Photo-Voltaic ESKOM’s Funded Premier Rooftop Projects: United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of Parties (COP 17) Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Platform. The United Nations Conference Of Parties (COP 17) was held at the Durban ICC in November and December 2011. ESKOM had committed to showcase their contribution towards clean energy generation via alternate clean energy technologies in the renewables and energy efficiency sector. Three commercial buildings were identified to deploy SPV Rooftop namely, the ”Standard Bank” building Kingsmead regional head office in Durban as well the “Standard Bank” Johannesburg regional head office. The first energy source was 6 x 600 kW (3.6MW) of electric elements and the second energy source is Methane Rich Gas. The proof of concept were sold to Tiger brands in Jacobs-Durban, I had since been promoted and had not been able to implement this project. Boiler efficiency Audits. Various Industrial clients were identified to convert their existing fossil fuel fired boiler to electrode (380V) or High Voltage (HV = 11kV) boiler. Alstom Vertical Orientated HV boilers were installed at various sites with a high steam demand footprint. These clients were buying steam based on a certain Rand per ton of steam rate from the Energy Services Company (ESCO)Steam Measurement and Data Analysis. Steam reticulation analysis, transmission insulation audits. Quantify Losses in the pipe insulation and create a business case from energy savings (usually a 3-to-4-month payback period to repair steam leaks and insulation losses).
