As per the President’s directive in 2009, the rollout of 1000 000 SWH must be installed before end of 2014. (This was the largest rollout of Solar Water Heaters in the World)National Technical Advisor/Project Management (MOUs in excess of R1.9 billion) for the SWH Rebate Program. Liaison with various stakeholders’ SWH manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, installers, external consultants (EON), SABS, Deloitte, 3rd parties, Commercial Institute’s/financiers/banks. Carbon Funding (sustainable energy savings 10 years maintenance). Developing Methodologies for SWH rebate incentives. (Utility pays 90% of installed cost, the remainder either comes from carbon fund or the homeowner. Homeowner carbon funding session process.Development of National SWH Installation Guideline: Together with SABS, identifying critical standards for SWH installations and implementation with various stakeholders.SWH Audits: findings presented to installers for remedial actions if required. Various Industrial clients were identified to convert their existing fossil fuel fired boiler to electrode (380V) or High Voltage (HV = 11kV) boiler. Alstom Vertical Orientated HV boilers were installed at various sites with a high steam demand footprint. These clients were buying steam based on a certain Rand per ton of steam rate from the Energy Services Company (ESCO)Steam Measurement and Data Analysis. Steam reticulation analysis, transmission insulation audits. Quantify Losses in the pipe insulation and create a business case from energy savings (usually a 3-to-4-month payback period to repair steam leaks and insulation losses).
