The group has come together to form a voluntary non-profit association where all members help to chart the direction of the organization.

The "Reaching the Summit in 2013" Steering Committee was created by the New River Gorge Regional Development Authority immediately following the announcement of the BSA to develop a High Adventure Camp and National Jamboree site in Fayette County, WV.This committee helps to coordinate the activities of the BSA, state of WV, National Park Service, and Fayette and surrounding counties.Four standing sub-committees have been developed to achieve the missions of the Committee: Economic Development, Community Development, Tourism and Safety and Infrastructure.The Committee meets monthly to coordinate activities to prepare our region to recieve visitors from around the globe and to prepare our communities to take the greatest advantage of the opportunities to come.

- Oversight of WV State Museum project, a 17.5 million dollar state-of-the-art immersive and experiential environment that takes visitors through a chronological history of the state of WV. completed in June 2009- Provide administrative direction for historical artifact, contemporary art and archeological collections; state museum education and operations; permanent, temporary and traveling exhibits, and the five state historic sites/museums: West Virginia Independence Hall, Grave Creek Mound Archeological Complex, Jenkins Plantation, Camp Washington-Carver, and Museum in the Park.- Enforce, evaluate, and develop policies and procedures for state museum historical, contemporary art and archeological collections- Identify, develop and support multiple, complex grant applications for funding- Report to Archives and History Commission three times annually- Work with managers to identify, monitor, and resolve personnel issues - Direct and monitor conservation and proper installation of museum artifacts for museum renovation
