My name is Adiatu Kamara also known as Addie. I currently study Childhood and Youth Studies at the University of Portsmouth. I chose this course as I wanted to participate in the growing sector of counselling with young people. This ambition of mine has been a growing goal that I would love to achieve as I believe that my skills and qualities will allow children and young people to feel appreciated and heard. Being in this support system would hopefully encourage and help them through their future. As a result, I have tried a professional placement as a youth worker with iiChild to complement my degree. iiChild is an organisation that is run during school half terms for children living in deprived and high rates of crime areas in the borough of Southwark in London.
