My team and I improved transactions between businesses through the Commercial Card Platform. I helped develop the Payfile 2.0 service that allows clients to pay their vendors with ease by uploading customizable batch payment files. We improved upon Payfile 1.0 by allowing single payment failures without affecting the rest of the batch. I helped build a payment file parser and email notification service for various stages in the payment processing pipeline. I configured Spring Boot to quickly run Java microservices both locally for developers and on QA/Prod environments on EC2. I also created a payment invoice visualizer in Angular for merchants to view their completed/pending payments. Furthermore, I utilized Hibernate to map important merchant, client, and payment data into both SQL and NoSQL databases including Oracle Database and Amazon DynamoDB. Finally, I frequently conducted security vulnerability maintenance around our tech stack.

I detected barcode corner points to transform off-axis images into usable barcodes using OpenCV, Python’s largest open-source computer vision library. My team and I also trained a PyTorch model from a manually annotated barcode dataset to find optimal parameters for the Harris corner detector algorithm. Capital One used these transformed barcodes to easily access customer information.

Fellow interns and I modernized Capital One’s Customer One Legal Entity Relationships Service to reduce the latency of finding relationships between people, businesses, and other legal entities by migrating our existing Legal Entity Relationships Service from the relational database Oracle Siebel to the more appropriate graph database AWS Neptune. We created a data migration program in Go to concurrently extract, transform, and load data from endpoint to endpoint and deployed it to AWS Lambda.
