Human brain is a captivating phenomenon. My favourite author Dan Brown quoted in his book Digital Fortress that "the human mind is the fastest computer in existence". Similarly, a human mind can be reprogrammed accordingly. I accidently stumbled upon this as a 5 year old when someone asked me a date and I immediately told the day. What seemed to gobsmack people (see attached newspaper article) was just simple maths in my head where I reference the Fridays in a year and then I add or subtract to find out the asked date. A mixture of analytical thinking, critical thinking, curiosity and willingness to learn about the importance of research, design and engineering in the modern society helped me graduate with a First Class Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering. My passion for the pursuit of knowledge and experience opened doors into different industrial sectors. In 2018, lead by our academic mentor, our team successfully integrated a computer aided design (CAD) and a MATLAB simulation to provide Balfour Beatty with their next generation of rail profilers. This experience enhanced my ability to work in a team by communicating effectively and adapting to the constantly changing industrial environment.After graduation, I wanted a mentor to show me the ropes in a fast-paced industrial environments. Therefore, I decided to join a start-up in the liquid petroleum gas (LPG) industry which helped me attain important transferrable skills. By training with the technical managers to specialists, I was able to learn the Agile Project Management Methodology, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Alongside, the business aspect of the industry, I was also able to enhance my research, design and manufacturing skills by improvising CAD drawings, running engineering simulations and gaining hands-on-experience with Just In Time (JIT) methods on the production line.After gaining more than 2 years of industrial experience, I decided to pursue a Masters in Energy Science and Technology at ETH Zürich to join the renewable energy transition.
