About Adil Hussain

I am a Web Accessibility Specialist with a master’s degree in universal design of ICT, over 5+ years of experience in accessibility/universal design with great interest in disability inclusion. I am very passionate about promoting digital accessibility, have extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with digital accessibility guidelines and standards, including WCAG 2.1, WAI-ARIA, EN301 549, EUs Web Accessibility Directive, Section 508, ADA, ISO (PDF). Furthermore, I am proud to be a member of the European ICT accessibility community. I have had the honor to work with many well-known accessibility experts in Europe incl. Shadi Abou-Zahra (previously W3C but currently working at Amazon) in a European Commission (EC) co-funded project WAI-Tools (Web Accessibility Initiative - Advanced Decision Support Tools for Scalable Web Accessibility Assessments). Currently, I am working at Norwegian Authority for Universal Design of ICT (Tilsynet for universell utforming av ikt (TUU)) under Norwegian Digitalisation Agency (Digitaliseringsdirektoratet (Digdir)) as Rådgiver/Advisor.Here's a short overview of my expertise: - Extensive knowledge of user accessibility needs, accessibility barriers in ICT solutions, and WCAG 2.1. - Counseling technical bodies on distinct accessibility issues from the early stage of project such as storyboards to the final product. - Demonstrated ability to analyze and develop test rules / guidelines to code for WCAG and ARIA. - Subject matter expert in Lead role for software testing, work with software development and QA teams to ensure WCAG 2.1 compliance. - Developing WCAG 2.1 compliance processes and test procedures on accessibility. - Plan and conducting in-depth accessibility audits of ICT solutions and non-web documents such as PDF, for WCAG 2.1 compliance and testing with different assistive technologies. - Hands-on experience with assistive technologies such as screen reader testing using NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, Talkback etc. - Prepare detailed reports documenting identified violations with suggested ICT solutions, including testable code examples, based on existing designs. - Extensive knowledge on different accessibility testing tools and expert in performing both manual reviews and automated test using such tools. - Experience in leading European Commission (EC) co-funded R&D projects, experience in working with interdisciplinary teams remotely.I am always looking forward to connecting with entrepreneurs, innovators, like-minded IT professionals.
