COS works to integrate cutting-edge science and technology with economic, social, law and policy expertise to develop practical solutions to the major problems facing the ocean and prepares leaders to take on these challenges. During this position, I• Guided the development of the successful collaboration: Monterey Area Research Institutions’ Network for Education (MARINE). MARINE brings together faculty and graduate students and postdocs from six Monterey Bay area higher education institutions to enhance graduate education; • Designed and led conservation leadership training for graduate students;• Created and executed numerous trainings and workshops for decision-makers to foster an understanding of climate change science and set in motion action to prepare for unavoidable impacts of climate change;• Conducted social science research, such as surveys and focus groups, to better understand public and decision-maker perception of climate change adaptation;• Secured grants to conduct research, outreach and education.• Organized and led multi-disciplinary strategy sessions designed to create interdisciplinary research projects that address climate change, conservation issues at the land-sea boundary, and the implementation of ecosystem-based management;• Managed hiring process for new staff, organized staff development trainings, and assisted the Executive Director and staff in work-plan development and implementation;
