Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania

Sedu Limited with created with focus on design and procurement. Through our showroom, we created custom solutions and facilitated transaction between companies and larger clients in Tanzania and manufacturers in both Europe, India, China, and South Africa. We later expanded our services to include project management, site inspections and quality control. The projects ranged from corporate office interiors, Restaurants, Hotels, clubs, and larger residential homes. We worked with both existing buildings and new builds.In 2018 I closed the company and moved back to Denmark.As a spin off to the main business, I Co-founded and managed a Pilot project called 9th Street Ltd. The aim of the project was to fill a void in the market by producing high-quality custom furniture on a commercial scale. This was to be the first locally produced alternative to the low-quality imports from China. We brought in machinery, raw materials, and a team from Pakistan to train our Tanzanian carpenters and tailors. We successfully ran the project for 2 years, until the Government enforced new immigration laws that impacted our senior team of Pakistani Nationals. This coincided with my decision to move back to Denmark in 2018, and the project came to an end. The project ran from June 2016 and up until May 2018.

Njombe, Iringa, Tanzania

Established a Horticultural farm in the remote regions of southern Tanzania. We were the first flower farm in the highlands, and aimed to produce high-quality roses for export to the Dutch flower Auctions in Holland. After several years of blood, sweat and tears, we succeeded. The farm was 250 Acres with 15 Acres of green houses and 210 staff. Flowers were exported several times per week through our refrigerated fleet of trucks and then airfreighted to Europe. The remote highlands had very few job opportunities for its residents, we were therefore thrilled to be able to contribute something positive to the community by employing and training staff from the surrounding villages. We also made a conscious effort to employ predominantly women into our work teams, which meant that the workforce consisted of 80% women. We ran the company for 10 years up until 2012, where a relationship change saw me moving to the Capital, Dar es salaam.
