As an experienced tutor and lecturer I have specific expertise in supporting the personal and professional development of counsellors at all stages of their careers. I am passionate about supervision and as a supervisor I will provide an attentive and supportive climate where supervisees can develop new options for managing themselves and their work with greater satisfaction and effectiveness. I offer both individual and group supervision and work with counsellors from a diverse range of therapeutic approaches. My supervision practice is informed by the BACP supervision competence framework. I am employed part-time with BACP as an accreditation assessor and have previously been involved in competence framework and curricula development. Before becoming a counsellor I worked in mental health services and managed a mental health advocacy service, after which I moved into education where I worked for 10 years as a lecturer of counselling with particular interest in personal and professional development. I have been in private practice since 2018, working with EAPs, insurance companies and direct referrals as well as being a supervisor of both experienced and trainee counsellors. I am an ACTO certified online and telephone therapist, trained to work with couples and individuals. My interests include the outdoors and well-being, I have been a British cycling ride leader trained to lead groups on easy-moderate graded road and off-road environments, coupled with training in delivering therapy outdoors I can offer the opportunity to engage in this as a well-being activity, details on my website.
