I am currently handling the role of Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences wherein my responsibilities include conducting Theory and Practical sessions for M.Sc Applied Geology students on Hydro geology, Mineralogy & Crystallography, Geochemistry, Marine Geology and Physical Geology & Geomorphology.

I worked as a Senior Research Fellow from 2013 to 2017 in a BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai; India) funded research project on Uranium contamination studies. My research area falls in Central part of Tamil Nadu State, INDIA covering a total of 4011 Km2 where the population is largely dependent on groundwater for drinking and other domestic purposes. The health Hazards of the radioactive element, Uranium, through drinking water; is focused in the study. The main objectives of this approach was to determine the Uranium sources, Sources of recharge, uranium isotopes in water, concentrations, fate of dissolved constituents and variations in saturation indices of different minerals and the Uranium speciation in water along groundwater flow path in these aquifers. Also, the toxicological characterization of Uranium and other elements in ground water was studied through hydro geochemical modeling approach as well as the quality of ground water in response to various processes and reactions between the aquifer matrix and fluid media; which has helped to obtain a clear picture. Statistical, geo spatial and hydro geochemical modeling techniques have been incorporated to achieve the objectives of the study and the major findings has been published in peer reviewed journals.
