About Adithya Balaji
My experience of living in three different countries, India, Singapore, and New Zealand has been a perfect launchpad to develop my global citizenship, improve my cross-cultural understandings, and has uplifted my desire to learn Accounting. Immigrating between these three countries which has very diverse cultures enhanced my ability to think empathetically and has moulded me as a solution-seeker. I aspire to become a Chartered Accountant who can assist organisations in solving complex problems after my graduation in 2024. Currently, I work part-time as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for BUSINESS 115 and INFOSYS 110 where I deliver economics, commercial law and information systems content to first-year students. Furthermore, I applied my solution-seeking capabiliites during my remote work experience with KPMG, Simply Energy, Think Pacific, Common Purpose in the past. These internships have enabled me to demonstrate my analytical skills, critical thinking and organisation skills as I deconstructed complex problems and presented creative, feasible solutions for my clients under huge time pressure.I believe that digital transformation will put more emphasis on soft skills including leadership as leaders have to work in partnerships with their employees for this transition. My work experience of leading multi-cultural teams during my micro-internship with KPMG, and my experiences of being a class representative for six different courses suggests that I am receptive and adaptible to any change in the external environment. Additionally, I was selected to participate in the Accelerate program, which offers an opportunity for high-performing and highly motivated students to develop solutions for a NZ charity organisation, Cure Our Ovarian Cancer. Furthermore, I currently volunteer as a Career and Learning Leader in the Business School where I build effective relationships with first-year students enabling them to achieve academic and recruitment success. This involves providing feedback to essays, CVs, Cover letter and mentoring students to achieve success. In the past, I have volunteered for numerous charity organisations such as Bizlink, Shree Narayana and Loving Hearts, which allowed me to contextualise community issues. Finally, in my spare time, I play tennis and cricket with my friends. I was also part of my school’s tennis team which is something I am proud of. My significant achievements include the University of Auckland Distinguished Graduate Award, Dean's Leadership Award and being a finalist at the EY Business Student of the Year.
