Our team was tasked to develop an innovative merger and marketing / business development strategy for Ecolab subsidiaries to increase revenue for the Water Treatment Business in China. The project required in depth analysis of the steel, chemical & power sectors in China. Apart from research we also conducted interviews with industry professionals to gather data. The information was consolidated to identify the underlying needs of the State Owned Enterprises (SOE's), private clients, internal Ecolab teams (sales / technical / R&D) and external industry specialists. For the project output, the various industry key driver and needs were used to develop a detailed customer segmentation & business development plan to increase market share and higher revenue. The project report also provided a seamless merger strategy for the subsidiaries to mitigate issues of internal push back and most importantly customer confusion between brands and their overlapping products.

As a Business Development Intern, I was given the opportunity to assist the BD head to in study & define project scope, prepare technical and commercial proposals. During the tenure of the internship I was able to Identify major utility scale developers, client representatives, EPC contractors and inter-department stakeholders. Lead Engineer – Ineos PAO Project (Total project cost - 180 MUSD)- Handled Equipment worth 3 MUSD.- Managed team of 3 engineers.- Effectively met client expectations of schedule and budgetCo-Lead – Ineos LAO Project (Total project cost - 400 MUSD)- Managed team of 10 engineers handling equipment worth 30 MUSD- Apart from Co-Lead activities, handled equipment worth 6 MUSD independently- Cost savings through technical innovation, contractor & client negotiations worth approx. 5 MUSD- Implemented optimized work procedure saving approx. 1000 engineering man-hours- Collaborated with foreign offices, contractors, client to understand, align & meet project targets with the help of the engineering team in India- Utilized Strategic management & risk assessment for key project decisions affecting P&L.Design Engineer – Various Projects (Typical valuation 200 MUSD)- Handled equipment such as reciprocating compressors (20 MW), centrifugal compressors (3MW), BFW Pumps (1 MW) from inquiry to commissioning stage. Work entailed preparing inquiry specification, technical bid evaluations, technical recommendations, purchase orders, checking contractor documents.- Designed work platform saving approx. 4000 engineering man-hours per yearSocial Responsibility – Jacobs Safety Week Exhibition Lead- Created awareness & provided information on safety aspects in normal life such as ergonomics, fire safety, environment safety, site safety, first aid, etc.
