Pursuing a PhD at University of Turku in the field of metal additive manufacturing, as a continuation from LUT Finland. The primary research area is the phenomenon of laser beam and material interaction in Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) process via the use of simulation. Currently training for the use of FLOW3D software in this phenomenon.

The research conducted as a part of this job is the natural extension of the master thesis that I have done before. The focus of this internship is on performing microscopic analysis on the removable powder bed by using the technique of confocal microscopy. The other form of microscopic analysis (SEM- Scanning Electron Microscopy) will be performed on samples printed via Selective Laser Melting to understand the porosity and microstructure of the additively manufactured specimens. In addition to this, correlations between the powder performance and the mechanical properties of the printed parts will also be made. Also included theoretical study about polymer SEM.

The master thesis is about metal powder layering performance in additive manufacturing, in this case Selective Laser Melting. Apart from studying the powder spread during the unconventional layering process (a machine called 'TESTER' has been designed by RISE IVF to replicate the layering mechanism in SLM), the powder was also characterized by rheological testing, PSD (Particle Size Distribution), Helium Pycnometry prior to the printing and sample components were printed using SLM125 machine from SLM solutions. The mechanical properties such as density, hardness and surface roughness were measured and correlated to the results of powder performance from the 'TESTER'.

Indian Railways is one of the largest government organizations in India. The thesis experience was one of the best during the time of the Bachelors. We had among various topics to choose for working on and decided to pursue the working of a distributor valve, which is a key unit of an air braking system in the Indian Railways. A study was conducted on the current component used and various tests were performed gathering data to understand the complete working of this part. In addition to this, new materials for this particular component and also for the brakes were suggested by our team. This was a thesis that spanned over the course of the final semester of the degree and the outcome and experience were very convincing.

Sportskeeda is a famous Indian sports website which covers various sporting events from across the world. They opened an interesting opportunity for young and aspiring sports writers in the year 2016 under the title of a sports writing intern. The job was to work under the direction of an an established sports journalist and submit articles to them on a weekly basis. It was a great learning experience and an excellent fit for my hobby of writing.

BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited) is an engineering and manufacturing company based in India. I had a great opportunity to work here as an intern here during the summer of 2016 under the supervision of one of the senior engineers in the Oil Rigs and Pulverizers department. My work as an intern was to study the various machine mechanisms used for manufacturing of the parts related to a Pulverizer and also some of the oil rigs. This internship was a very brief yet a learning experience of how an industry functions.
