Undergraduate Research Assistant - Intrusion Detection Systems Lab
Working on new active authentication systems to help determine when a user's device may have been compromised. I've worked with Prof. Jon Voris on a Machine Learning project, where I implemented various techniques/models like regression, J48 Decision Trees, Multilayer Perceptron, etc to analyze a dataset of mouse movements, clicks, and keypresses in an attempt to uniquely identify each user. We had collected data for several minutes from each sample, and had polled users for their experience level with the program they were using when our data was collected. I found certain trends showing that it was much easier to identify a specific user as an experienced one from the data points, and we are still looking at using different models to help improve the accuracy of our findings. We hope that this research can be used to help create authentication systems to lock out suspected intruders on a given system if they exhibit erratic or extremely unfamiliar behavior per that system.
