If you are interested in joining my group as a graduate student, please visit https://adityanandy.github.io/ and follow the instructions. I am not hiring postdoctoral scholars.I am currently a Schmidt AI in Science Fellow at the University of Chicago working in computational biophysics. I will be starting my own group at UCLA in 2025 in the CBE department. I received my Ph.D. in Theoretical Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I have published over 40 manuscripts in the applications of machine learning (ML) / data science to molecular discovery tasks (all manuscripts found here: https://tinyurl.com/mrxxtm5a). Previously, I graduated as a Regents' and Chancellor's and Leadership Award Scholar from the University of California, Berkeley, where I majored in Chemical Engineering and minored in Chemistry.I have expertise in computational chemistry (specifically high-throughput virtual screening), programming, transition metal chemistry, data science, optimization, and natural language processing. Please e-mail me if you're interested in my work, or would like to discuss applying machine learning methodology to molecular or periodic systems, especially transition metal complexes, metal-organic frameworks, or membrane proteins.I am open to consulting roles and have extensive experience helping clients build products in the materials space. Please reach out to me directly if my expertise can help your organization.

Undergraduate ResearcherUc Berkeley Jan 2015 - Aug 2017Reimer Lab, Department Of Chemical And Biomolecular EngineeringUsing solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (SSNMR) to investigate metal organic framework (MOF) properties. Developed packing tools and became familiar with the Varian Chemagnetics 4mm probe. Used TNMR to investigate various properties of MOF-5.Built pressure control apparatus using 10 solenoid valves and circuitry; controlled using a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B. Included pressure control gauges, requiring digital to analog converters and complicated circuitry. Homebuilt equipment currently put to use.Designed and constructed a tuneless probe (employed the use of SolidWorks, Python, machining, coil-building, circuitry, and nuclear magnetic resonance).Wrote numerous technical reports and gave presentations to the research group.Presented research poster at U.S. Department of Energy's EFRC All-Hands Meeting. -
Undergraduate ResearcherUc Berkeley Jan 2014 - Aug 2015O'Connell Lab, Departments Of Mechanical Engineering And BioengineeringConducting research in orthopaedic biomechanics (specifically on tissue-engineered cell constructs and their mechanical properties). Cultured tissue-engineered cell-constructs, then lyophilized, digested and analyzed the biochemical content with biochemical assays using a Biotek plate reader (DNA, glycosaminoglycan [GAG], and hydroxyproline [OHP] assays). Analyzed the effects of swelling on the biochemical properties of the tissue constructs. -
Late Stage Pharmaceutical Development InternGenentech May 2016 - Aug 2016San Francisco Bay AreaIntern at Genentech under Late Stage Pharmaceutical Development, investigating protein-excipient interactions with various analytical techniques (NMR, DLS, DSC, DSF, and ITC).Boss: Jasper C. Lin, Ph.D. -
Research InternStanford University School Of Medicine May 2013 - Aug 2013Lin Lab, Departments Of Bioengineering And PediatricsReceived position through the Stanford Institutes of Medical Research (SIMR) program (62 students accepted out of 1400). Worked in the lab of Dr. Michael Z. Lin. Conducted research (with mentor Dr. Hyokeun Park) on the development of dendritic spines and filopodia using the Dronpa-Intersectin-Dronpa fluorescent light inducible protein system. Designed a research poster and conducted a presentation at the end of the summer program. -
Teaching AssistantUc Berkeley Academic Talent Development Program (Secondary Division) Jun 2012 - Aug 2012University Of California, BerkeleyWorked as a teacher's assistant in an AP Biology class taught by Greg Martinez and Eric Thiel. Prepared labs for students in the class to do. Also helped to grade coursework such as essays, tests, and lab reports. Tutored students who needed and asked for help in the class. Utilized previous class experience to provide insightful commentary and helpful feedback (took the class from June 2011 – August 2011).
