Developed a long-range Estimated Landing Time prediction system for the flight arriving at Frankfurt airport. The thesis was motivated by the fact that the current estimation method was reliant on the local radar systems that are very short range. The developed system uses various machine learning algorithms such as Gradient Boosted Trees, Artificial Neural Networks and sequence learning using LSTMs to provide high-quality and long-range landing time predictions. The current implementation makes better predictions than all existing alternatives employed at Fraport.
