Worked for the department of Project and Technology - IT Service and Operations Management (P&T SOM)At large organisations such as Shell, employees handle their operations digitally using their company provided devices and systems which are bound to cause problems. These issues are reported through ServiceNow, IT service management portal, via calls and emails made by Shell employees. PT SOM, Project & Technology (PT) Services and Operations Management(SOM), provides reliable services for these IT related queries. In order to address these specific issues, these tickets are needed to be assigned manually by the ServiceNow support staff to the correct resolution group. This can cause wrong delegation of tickets and more time taken for a particular issue to be resolved. In this research project, the process of classification of the ServiceNow tickets is addressed to make it more efficient through machine learning. ServiceNow data is combined with the employees characteristics to enrich the data set with more information. Natural language processing (NLP) is also used for the description of the user issues which is stored in the portal as text fields. Machine learning algorithm of Random Forest is used to predict and classify the tickets of different issues faced by the employees based on the features obtained from the call tickets, employee data and NLP.

The goal of such a study is to find those metabolites that are (statistically) different between the two groups. Partial Least Squares discriminant analysis(PLSDA) is a 2-class multivariate discrimination method that is often used in such studies. Another approach recently introduced is called Statistical Health Monitoring (SHM). Here a model of the control group is made, and then for each of the cases (being individuals with a disease or any perturbed situation) is examined for its deviation from the control situation. In this project simulations and real data are used to explore the strength and weaknesses of the two methods.
