Adjunct Professor Craig Bennett AMMSc (Health Econ) BEcon (Hons) FCHSM CHEI am a health economist by training and a Fellow of the Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM).I have held senior leadership positions in both the private and public health care sectors in Australia and England and also worked in Jamaica and Singapore. I started my career as an academic economist and have also worked for an international consulting firm. For family reasons, I now divide my time between Melbourne and London.In Australia, I am currently a member of the Council of the Australian Centre for Accelerating Diabetes Innovations and a member of the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia. I am also involved with several research studies and am an active mentor and journal reviewer with the ACHSM. In addition, I am a Clinical (Tutor) in the University of Melbourne’s Baker Department of Cardiometabolic Health.In England, I currently advise Diabetes UK on research priorities and The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust on health economics.I have expertise in undertaking option appraisal, cost-benefit and cost-effectiveness studies, as well as reviewing the evidence-base for both existing and proposed changes to clinical practice, and the efficacy of broader public health policies.I was the CEO of Diabetes Victoria (not for profit) in Melbourne for nine years from March 2013.Previously, I was the CEO of the (public) Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne from May 2004 until December 2012.From October 1998 until April 2004, I was the Chief Executive of the (public) Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth. I was concurrently the Area Chief Executive of the North Metropolitan Health Service from June 2002 until April 2004.I have previously served as a Director and Deputy Chair of Health Purchasing Victoria, as well as a Director of the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research, the Health Roundtable Ltd, the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre Ltd and the Anti-Cancer Council of Victoria, among others.In June 2024, I was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia – for significant service to health administration in leadership and advisory roles.
