- Personal project turned one man e-commerce startup built on next generation web technologies. Duties involve full stack development with the following technology setup, front-end is developed with jQuery and Bootstrap and back-end is developed with node.js (CoffeeScript for agile development), mongodb, redis, expressJS, Jade, and LESS.- Front-end developed with a pageless responsive design made possible by AJAX calls to REST api back-end.- Being the sole worker, all decisions from choosing merchant accounts to implementation details are chosen by me.

- Dived straight into team based backend related work dealing with Amazon web services, Postmark api, heroku, expressJS, grunt/gulp, api development, and coffeescript.- Front end development of single page applications with AngularJS- Provided valuable input to help drive a startup- Quickly prototyped MVP android phone app through the use of the xtend language.- Developed web apps for high profile clients with high traffic.

- Worked on Information Fusion techniques during a collaboration with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, which involved the development of a system that merged conceptual data retrieved from key frames in videos and data retrieved from information extraction on automatic speech recognition on the aforementioned videos. To combine the data, the conceptual video data and the information extraction results are intuitively combined by the time at which they occur. Two positive case studies were conducted: gender detection and comparable corpora. A paper was produced and accepted by COLING 2010[1], also a book chapter was released based on the case study done in this work[4]. - Participated in the Slot Filling subtask for the Knowledge Base Population track at the Text Analytics Conference (TAC 2010). I developed logical components for the system we developed using Markov Logic Networks and simple heuristics[2,3], which improved the precision of the system by removing spurious answers. Our system scored top two.- Worked on Disfluency Detection for the purpose of improving Machine Translation results on conversational telephone speech. We used Transfer Learning to learn from a small set of training data and applied it on the test set which produced positive results. This work was funded by the DARPA GALE project.- Learned how to use Amazon Mechanical Turk for annotation during another collaboration with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, for a project funded by the NSF.

-Object Oriented Programming in Java (lab) - Engaged with college students for hands on learning of the Java programming language. - Helped students debug and take time out to carefully explain possible solutions to encourage abstractive thinking. Engaged with students to understand their thought processes and if necessary guide their thought processes in the right direction. - HTML and WWW Programming - Taught several topics regarding the internet which included: DNS, internet protocol suite, routers and their purpose, HTML, XHTML, CGI programming with apache (Perl/PHP, LAMP/XAMPP), CSS, special browser quirks (Internet Explorer), JavaScript. - Taught how to write HTML semantically to conform to web standards.

Computer Science tutor for the computer science department. Helped students confront programming problems, offered tips and guidance, and strengthen ideas already taught in class.
