I recently worked for the Canadian Red Cross as Site Manager of the St. John's and Fredericton COVID-19 quarantine location. I oversaw a staff of Logistics and Emergency Responders responsible for the support and service of the site and the beneficiaries quarantining there. Prior to the Canadian Red Cross, I worked as a Program and Policy Development Specialist, at the Department of Health and Community Services with the Newfoundland and Labrador Public Service where I developed health-related policies and supported the Deputy Minister's role overseeing provincial, territorial, and federal intergovernmental, health issues. Previously, I worked at the Government of Ontario's Cabinet Office as a policy and strategic foresight analyst for the Policy Innovation Hub. I worked in a small team of internal consultants responsible for rejuvenating the government’s policy development process and spreading the gospel of innovation and experimentation. I worked directly with teams experiencing complex policy challenges and supported their use of novel approaches in the name of connecting people more closely to the policy and programs they use. Such techniques included user research, journey-mapping, data review and analysis, co-creation, and strategic foresight investigations. My role consisted of managing multi-stakeholder projects, writing briefs, leading inter-ministerial consultations, and conducting workshops. I worked on a wide-range of projects that included composing strategic foresight reports (topics included: future Ontario risks, burgeoning advanced technologies, and the “future of work”), developing unit and ministry-wide strategies, revamping programs, and modernizing the government’s talent management system. Long ago, I attended the University of Victoria for my undergraduate degree where I attained a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in History and Spanish. After several years working as a personal caregiver, landscaper, and server, I attended Queen's University Law School. In my spare time, I write. I have had articles published in Leen Magazine, Maisonneuve Magazine, Montecristo Magazine, and the Queen's Law Newspaper, Jurisdiction. I am currently a contributing writer to www.raptorsrepublic.com and www.benchboss.ai.I also play basketball competitively, hike and camp as much as I can, and generally love to explore. I have been fortunate enough to travel extensively and experience many beautiful places across the world.
