About Adrià Cots Fernández

I was born & raised passionate for everything related to politics and humanities.I worked for eight years as a corporate lawyer in Barcelona, Spain. I became familiar with the tech industry. I liked that it combines logic & intellectual rigour, with a no-bullshit approach. In 2016, I transitioned into a human rights career. I think it’s self-evident that we should live in a fair society where everybody has genuinely equal opportunities. I love the outdoors, walking & running in the mountains. And dogs.

I compared the wording of these directives, as it was produced by several legislative committees within the European Parliament, against international standards on Internet intermediary liability.- I carried out fifteen case studies on real-life hate speech instances in online and offline media. These examples were used as material for debate in a symposium of European media regulators organised in London on October 2017.- I drafted a comparative legal analysis of website blocking in 10 different European countries. • Babanjo Radio
    Co-Founder
    Babanjo Radio Sep 2012 - Jan 2015
    Barcelona Area, Spain
In September 2012 I co-founded Babanjo Radio, a startup that developed a mobile application designed for listening and interacting with all the radio stations in Spain. My role as Babanjo Radio's CFO involved three separate areas. - First, I was responsible for the financial management of the company, and for designing a reporting system aimed at controlling the company's performance. I oversaw the budget of our six-person operation. - Secondly, I was responsible for fundraising and for dealing with our investors. In this sense, I should point out that we successfully raised more than 150,000 EUR in private and public financing. In third place, as a member of the founding team I was part of the general management of the company. Babanjo Radio was an extremely challenging project, as we had to create a complex technological platform from scratch. I learnt the hard way how to (and how not to) manage a team, and to implement a multidimensional project.
