I recently took the decision to retire from full-time CEO responsibilities to focus on my current Chairman responsibilities with Akebia Therapeutics and AcelRx Pharmaceuticals - in addition to exploring new Board Director positions. Having had tremendously valuable Big-Pharma experiences with ICI/Zeneca, SmithKline Beecham and Novartis, I have been afforded both the opportunity and indeed privilege, over the past 20 years of leading and building overall success stories spanning six Public Companies.In addition to launching over 25 products in multiple disease areas, I have had the opportunity to work with high quality, diverse Boards and incredibly talented and successful executive teams and employee bases. I have learned, and continue to learn, a great deal - but in particular the power of culture, people and values - wrapped around the “corporate success ingredients” of high standards of operation, compliance and integrity.My goal now is to take all these learnings and experiences and help others to succeed and to continue, indirectly, to build shareholder value over time.
