Westpac Group Customer Advocate (since late 2016): The function I lead within the Westpac Group seeks to ensure complaints are resolved correctly for all Westpac Group retail, small business and wealth customers. The team and I also propose changes to products, policies and procedures across the Westpac Group to ensure the best outcomes for customers.Law (from 1984 to 2016): The focus of my legal career for over 30 years was in corporate law, M&A and governance. The industries in which I was most focussed were financial services along with infrastructure in particular rail, ports, the transport logistics chain, the energy industry and social infrastructure, including social housing.Executive director roles: Until 2014, I was the global chairman of Norton Rose Fulbright (NRF). I was the Australian chairman of NRF until 30 June 2016. I was a member of the NRF board in Australia from 2004 to 2016 and on the NRF global board and audit and risk committee from 2010 to 2016.Non-Executive Director roles: I was chairman of the Australian World Orchestra until early 2018 and I have been a member of various advisory boards. I am an experienced chairman including of audit and risk committees. I am a fan of disruption and a key supporter of diversity of thought and representation.Management: I have a significant management experience. In all of my leadership roles I have enjoyed disrupting the status quo and helping transform the organisations I am in.North Asia: I was a student in Japan in the mid 1970s and was seconded to a major Japanese trading house in Tokyo in the mid 1980s. For some decades I have worked with investors from Nth Asia relating to investments into Australia and across Asia. I have good insights into Asian based organisations and their investment focus and strategies.
