My background is in web content strategy, with elements of governance and project management. Recently, I've been actively pursuing a transition into the field of cyber security, driven by a genuine interest in safeguarding digital assets and the challenge of mitigating emerging threats. My journey into cyber security began by being one of the lucky few accepted onto the SANS Upskill in Cyber Programme (2023), through which I earnt the GIAC Foundational Cyber security Technologies (GFACT) and GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC) certifications. I scored over 90% in both exams and have therefore been accepted as a member of the GIAC advisory board. Through the Upskill in Cyber Programme I have developed an understanding of the various aspects of cyber security, from computer hardware and virtualisation to access control, cryptography, and incident handling.I enjoy programming, particularly using Python and would enjoy a role where scripting forms a significant part. To practise these skills I've recently been working on projects such as developing Flask web applications and engaging in coding challenges on platforms like Codewars. Additionally, I'm learning more about ethical hacking and penetration testing through platforms like Hack The Box and Hack The Box Academy, where I'm steadily building my practical skills in identifying vulnerabilities and securing systems.Currently, I'm seeking entry level cyber security positions to put the lessons I’ve learnt into practice and continue the journey!
