At the start of 2024 Adrian stepped down from Ocean Vertical to create time and space to consider the next challenge. He remains a shareholder in Ocean Vertical and continues to offer advice and support to start-ups, along with a life long commitment to wilderness and the natural world.In 2018 in a radical departure from architecture Adrian co-founded Ocean Vertical. The vision was to create Scotlands leading ethical adventure company. Jump forward to 2023 and the Ocean Vertical brand is synonymous with sustainability, quality and being leaders in the outdoor adventure industry in the UK and beyond. 2023 also saw the first Ocean Vertical expedition to the Himalayas. Previously Adrian practiced as an architect for 20 years nationally and international. He has lived and worked in Hong Kong, London, and now lives in East Lothian, Scotland. Having spent many years in the corporate world the draw of the wild was always there. Historically he worked with Sir Norman Foster and Partners for seven years working and living in Hong Kong and London. Following this he joined RMJM for ten years where he was a Design Principal. In 2010 he joined 10 Design as a Design Partner spending time in the UK, China, India, Beirut, Turkey and the USA. His projects include large scale mixed use master plans, commercial and corporate offices, residential and education.
