Adrian Brady graduated in Medicine from Edinburgh University in 1985, with B.Sc Hons summa cum laude. A full-time NHS cardiologist, Professor Brady is immediate Past President of the British and Irish Hypertension Society. He has published >100 research papers and given >200 national/international lectures on the clinical aspects and epidemiology of hypertension, lipids, coronary heart disease and pulmonary embolism. He has worked extensively with guidelines agencies including SIGN, NICE, and the European and American institutions, and is Chairman of the forthcoming 2021 SIGN guideline on Venous Thromboembolism. Professor Brady is the Global Spokesperson on Hypertension for the European Society of Cardiology, representing >95,000 cardiovascular specialists. His Hypertension programme work in India has now been delivered to thousands of physicians, and the programme will soon extend to Pakistan and African nations. He has served for many years on Council of the British Cardiovascular Society and is Past Chairman of its Guidelines Committee. During Professor Brady’s Presidency of the British and Irish Hypertension Society the membership grew by 10% with a corresponding uplift in its financial reserves. Perhaps his finest work, Professor Brady conceived, developed and led Football Health Scotland, now the largest health programme in Scotland, with thousands of participants, linked to Premier League clubs.
