Working for Surface Wellhead International, within a research and development group within the organisation. Working as a design engineer gaining more experience and exposure to a variety of projects for Surface applications within the oil and gas sector.Responsibilities have included design development for both existing and new product line equipment and research and development projects. Liaising directly with both internal and external customers and suppliers, meeting schedules and project deadlines whilst communicating internationally to ensure a clear understanding of product line requirements and opportunities.

Whilst at FMC I initially became involved with the Subsea qualification team. Taking ownership for overseeing a number of qualification test programs as well as being involved in the design, test and assembly of qualification test fixtures for Well Completion Services. My involvement then moved to the Electronic and Optical feed through group. Again being involved with OEM document release and control as well as testing programs for EFS/OFS related products. Working closely on projects both globally within FMC and projects outwith our business ownership being controlled by clients and suppliers. Responsibilities have included, although not limited to, the control and release of drawing packages, bills of materials, test documentation and reports.

Whilst at MESL I was involved in the design and development of Microwave products, working closely with the microwave design engineers to develop a range of different product lines. Responsibilities included the control and release of drawing packages, bills of materials, engineering change orders, cost reduction of existing product lines all within extremely tight deadlines.

I was approached by SLB to return to Phoenix to act as a Development Design Engineer during the transition of operations from the Phoenix Product centre to the Singapore and Houston Product Centres. Responsibilities included leading design development and change initiatives with emphasis placed on meeting tight deadlines and continuously communicating internationally to ensure a smooth transition of new product development projects between product centres and manufacturers. My design focus on my return to Schlumberger continued to be down-hole monitoring tools.

The design of medium to high volume plastic products was the focus in this position. Responsibilities included problem solving on product design and manufacturing issues including castings and communicating regularly with suppliers and manufacturing specialists.

Within this position I further developed my skills in production castings and was involved with manufacturing operations management from an engineering perspective. Responsibilities in this post included design development and project control of new down hole monitoring tools, to the structuring and organisation of bills of material’s for projects from beginning towards completion and commercialisation. Interacting with all in house departments, external manufacturers and suppliers.
