Through my role as BID Manager, I offer support to all businesses located in Witham’s industrial estates (our designated Business Improvement District). I achieve this by overseeing the implementation and management of those commitments made to our member businesses and which are in line with our BID status. Improvements and upkeep in areas such as security, signage, safety and estate surroundings provide me with a firm foundation on which to continue to build a better business community for all our members.

I was tasked with the response to road network incidents and investigations. Covering a large geographical area, I managed and investigated serious road traffic collision and incident scenes and worked within exceptionally fast time requirements to secure evidence, manage witnesses and promote traffic flow. I worked effectively with a range of partners, consistently demonstrating a sensitive and thoughtful approach to support often traumatised and vulnerable individuals. My role required the application of a wide range of specialist skills together with the ability to work independently. This was to secure physical evidence and intelligence from accident scenes that would assist me with my reconstruction of events.Vehicles involved in incidents were thoroughly examined to identify areas of damage, model specific component systems and to determine whether any identified defects may have been contributory to the collision. Occasionally, these examinations became more involved with mechanical systems being stripped down to allow for a closer examination of their base parts. Vehicle diagnostics were often interrogated with suspected component failures being submitted for further forensic examination. Inspection and/or maintenance manuals were often researched, or vehicle manufacturers or dealers consulted to assist with specific and usually technical lines of enquiry.I utilised a range of tactics and resources including photography and electronic scene surveys. To assist with my reconstruction, I often examined CCTV and when appropriate, incident data recordings and digital tachograph data. Using Microsoft Office and other specialist software, I produced complex and comprehensive reports to support my findings presenting evidence at Coroners, Crown, Magistrates and the High Court in my capacity as an expert witness. I served as a mentor to less experienced officers, ensuring resilient information sharing to promote best practice and excellent service delivery.

I was tasked with the immediate response to critical incidents involving accidents and road incidents across the East London road network. As a traffic officer, I held responsibility for the free-flow of traffic as well as enforcement of the vehicle roadworthiness and driving standards. This included the management of collision and incident scenes, working in fast time to secure evidence and manage witnesses. I consistently built and maintained resilient and effective relationships across internal and external partnerships including the Highways Agency, ambulance and fire services to promote the most effective service delivery and to represent the MPS. I unfailingly brought order and calm to confused and chaotic incidents; often arriving as first on scene to challenging environments and quickly identifying and prioritising next actions to manage situations in the most professional and efficient manner.I was authorised to examine and prohibit motor vehicles under Sections 67 and 69 of the Road Traffic Act 1988. All classes of vehicles were examined as per legislation set out in The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986. Classification of severe defects identified for the purpose of prohibition were taken from the current Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) ‘Categorisation of Defects’ guidelines and were in line with current MOT practices. Under Section 78, I was also an authorised weighing officer.

Like all officers at this time, I began my service as a constable. I undertook a range of training and development, affording me a foundation of effective enquiry, observation and personal interaction. In an operational setting, as part of a response team, I was tasked with the immediate management of critical incidents; often under intense pressure of time. I demonstrated the ability to manage a diversity of issues, influence widely and process information quickly and accurately.
