Novel machine learning methods and innovative multimodal analyses of remote sensing datasets are combined with field data such as abundance indices derived from automatic camera traps and population estimates based on thermographic UAV flight campaigns. The predictive hotspot detections serve as a strong data-driven decision basis for ecologically sound preventative maintenance measures to increase railroad safety and infrastructure efficacy.
