I worked on a map display library for the defense industry. In addition to work on the core product, I drove the following initiatives:• Testing: Implemented a CI/CD system for writing and running thorough tests of the library• Documentation: Implemented a system for producing and managing internal documentation• Build systems: Developed a system for dependency management, reducing the time to modify dependencies from hours to seconds• C and C++: Resolved critical quality issues in the core product, and examples used to sell the library• Software design: Worked on implementing a formal design process

I started in software/hardware testing, and transitioned to ownership of the 3ddisp and 3dgra modules of the Matrox Imaging Library. My rewritten versions of these modules are now running in high-uptime applications at factories around the world.Highlights:• C++: Rearchitected an industrial 3D graphics system for reliability and extensibility • Reliability: Resolved several major classes of bug which could break customer installations • Extensibility: Allowed implementation of many highly requested features, impossible with the old design • Documentation: Extensively documented the new architecture and features. This documentation was “in the top %1” per a senior coworker• C++ and Python: Developed a tool for generating realistic 3D test data, allowing development to be performed using example objects we did not physically possess• Testing: Wrote extreme tests based on thorough analysis of specifications, maintaining our high reliability standards• Software design; Designed new APIs and features, ensuring long-term stability of the API by ensuring consistency with existing designs• Optimization: Proposed small changes to our testing infrastructure which nearly doubled the number of randomized tests we could perform every day (~5 million to ~9 million)
