Founded Probike, a specialist bicycle store focusing on road race and triathlon bike sales, bike-fitting, rentals and high-quality servicing. The business dealt with mid- to high-end components, accessories, nutrition, storage/transport products and apparel. Probike LLC was a key and founding member of the thriving cycling and triathlon scene in the UAE. I exited this business to enable me to focus fully on construction claims and disputes consulting.

My core role was to agree the final accounts for multiple completed roads and infrastructure projects carried out for four different government and private clients in Dubai with a total combined value of US$870 million. This required the resolution of a number of challenging cost and time claims. I also provided contracts guidance to other ongoing projects across the UAE and led bid teams for prospective projects in the UAE and Bahrain.

60,000m3/day tanker discharge and sewage treatment facility for Sharjah Municipality in the UAE. Engineer is Halcrow. FIDIC-based AED230million project. Responsible for design, procurement, installation and commissioning of the M&E plant.

Project Manager for the Civils elements of a new Sewage Treatment Plant and associated sewer and irrigation systems for several new residential developments by Nakheel in Dubai. FIDIC based contract, initially valued at US$817million for a 221,000cu.m/day plant but then restructured to half that capacity.Responsible for all aspects of the Civils work - safety, cost control, authority approvals, design, procurement, quality, construction management, client/engineer relationship.

US$40 million FIDIC / JBIC sewer networks & diversions in Malaysia. Responsible for obtaining permits & wayleaves, management of tunnelling & shaft construction subcontractors, claims management and managing relationship with the Engineer & Client.

£11 million retail park on a tight 9-month programme - utilities decommissioning and diversion, asbestos removal, contaminated land, earthworks, drainage and sewerage, steel-framed buildings with steel-fibre reinforced floor slabs on precast driven piles. I had overall responsibility for site management and design co-ordination. This project was completed on-time.

Over £10 million of new sewerage and utilities. Over 200No. manholes and 40km of straight and curved tunnels up to 2mØ. I provided management and engineering control of up to 10No. pipejacking systems. I also handled planning/programming, design development, the control of labour, materials and plant and liaison with Authorities and Consultants.

£165million (GMP Contract) ExCeL Exhibition Centre. Solely responsible for the management of £9million of cladding, roofing, curtain walling and glazed structures sub-contracts from tender stage to design development and construction.

4No. 16-storey apartment blocks and a 5-storey car park. In-charge of all structural, M&E and finishing works. Duties included planning, co-ordination and inspection of all works, control of materials and deliveries, liaison with the client, authorities and sub-contractors on technical matters and reporting quality and progress to the client. Reported to the Project Manager.

500acre greenfield township development in Peninsular Malaysia. Also acted as Asst. Project Manager for the developer. Works included earthworks and roadworks, drainage, water supply and treatment works. I set-up and managed the site facilities, chaired design meetings, managed Authority approvals, monitored and inspected all works and co-ordinated sub-contractors.

£45million refurbishment of the 450,000 sq ft Milton & Shire House office building in The City of London with an innovative approach that enabled expansion of interior dimensions to become the flagship headquarters of a top legal company. Responsible for several sub-contracts including curtain walling roofing, cleaning cradles, fire protection, decommissioning of services and demolition. I reported to the Section Manager. Duties included liaison with consultants and authorities (technical problems/site logistics), co-ordination of services and cladding, inspection of works with Architect/Consultant. I also monitored, reported and recorded progress, quality and safety.

I assisted Site Engineers on various projects including a multi-storey car-park ramp at Heathrow Airport Terminal 3, The Marlowes shopping centre in Hemel Hempstead, the Fort Stubbins paper mill in Ramsbottom and the Bicester Village retail centre. My duties included setting out, surveying, works supervision and assisting sub-contractors with technical problems.
