I have retail fever!Working from the very roots as a 15 year old checkout boy looking for someone to authorise my alcohol sales, to leading a successful 200 strong team and working hard to achieve the next chapter of my career. In my 22 years of retail there have been many twist and turns along the way, succeeding to enter the world of management, becoming a skill baker, gaining my personal licence, surviving multiple structure changes, implemented new management roles, meeting my wife and the love of my life, although we have very different idea of retail therapy, hers ends in a card payment and mine normally has a merchandising plan involved.Ultimately business is all about profit, the key drivers for me are controlling expenditures, maximising sales, customer trust and loyalty, inspiring and developing great people, strong relationships with suppliers and other supportive businesses.My approach is simple, strive for people to buy into me as a leader by adopting a calming, high energetic, respectful, empathetic approach and then they will buy into my vision for the business. I do this through integrity, strong communication, coaching, transparency, knowledge sharing, inspirational performance management whether the individuals opportunity is through “Skill” or “Will”Two key focuses I always apply is “Growth” and “Simple”. Whether it’s with the team, the customer, outside support links or execution of a new business implementation, its imperative we keep retail life as simply as possible whilst still growing our business, our brand, our network, our people and most importantly myself.I love leading, I love retail!
