The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is a membership Union uniquely composed of both government and civil society organisations. Was on the Board of Management of this amazing social enterprise since its conception and have seen it grown and grow. My specialist areas were common sense, education and training, quality assurance and business development. This was a voluntary position.

Responsible for all aspects of academic business and quality assurance of College wide delivery of SQA and other awarding body qualifications. Developed business, marketing and international strategies in preparation for SRUC merger. Led synthesis of workbased learning, short course provision, and communications, marketing and PR. Following merger to form SRUC carried out handover of all business operations to continuing staff of the new organisation. Left this employment through voluntary severance to establish the Social Learning Company

Managed all curriculum development aspects of the College, including accreditation of 3rd party provision based on SCQF. Developed bespoke courses for clients based on SQA or SCQF. Developed Oatridge Accreditation services. Responsible for National work-based learning programmes, professional short courses: developed access/articulation routes. Developed industry liaison groups for all curricula areas: Representative on local community planning partnerships, Sector Skills Councils, employer fora and Chambers of Commerce. Business consultancy on landbased enterprise development and land use/diversification

Initiated and developed Centre for Enterprise Education and incubator spaces (Cre8) for student led enterprises. Attracted over £30,000 investment for student’s business start ups. Trained over 50 lecturers and teachers in Get into Enterprise and Get into Business across Central Scotland. Developed EU projects in entrepreneurship, social enterprise. Growing Organics – organic farm: vermiculture; organic medicinal herb production; organic cattle and sheep production; development of countryside training courses and training facility

Owner of farm units producing goats milk, organic quail eggs and carcasses, and gourmet meats (duck, venison, river caught salmon, and other locally sourced game).

Built and managed 6 acre intensive research and development farm from green field site to establish sector leading unit of 500 breeding sows and 300 calf rearing unit. Conducted feed, housing and breeding research trials for leading feed companies and developed innovative housing systems for pigs and calves. Established this unit as one of the leading pig breeding units in the UK at the time. Responsible for training of research and demonstration staff
