I have been making documentary films since the late 90's - some have won awards. I always work as part of a small team and try to surround myself with passionate, likeable individuals who care about the story were telling. My company is Curious Dog Films and prior to that I was co-owner of Wildfire Films, for a long time. Have made docs on a broad range of subjects across the arts, sport, politics, music, comedy, social issues, mental health and the ups and downs of life. Television and feature doc’s for national and international broadcasters and funders like RTE, Screen Ireland, BAI, TG4, Channel 4, BBC Four, Virgin Media, ARTE Germany, YLE Finland, SBS Australia and The History Channel. In early 2024 we go into production on our feature doc BORN THAT WAY, about Patrick Lydon, visionary social pioneer. While facing his final battle, we view the world through his unique lens. Directed by Éamon Little. In December 2023 we finished 'IMOGEN FROM THE HEART', a 50 minute documentary for RTÉ on sculptor Imogen Stuart. Directed by Imogen's grandson, Emile Dinneen and edited by Mirjam Strugalla. In 2022 we produced 'CLODAGH' another arts documentary for RTÉ/BAI, on a New York based Irish designer. Directed by Oda O'Carroll and edited by Brenda Morrissey. In 2021, I produced/directed a 3 x 1 hour series called 'OUR TOWN', with a talented team, for Curious Dog/Wildfire Films/RTÉ - 'A beautiful portrait of young people in all their strength, vulnerability, and wisdom' – Irish Times. Also in 2021, I was the director on 'THE KILLING of FATHER NIALL MOLLOY' produced by Flawless Films for RTÉ - 'worked exceptionally well: both as true crime documentaries and vivid social histories' Liam Fay–Sunday Times. Winner RTS Television Award for Best Factual Series. In Development (2024) - WHIDDY - A rural community in the south west of Ireland welcomes an International oil company with hopes and dreams, but it turns into their worst nightmare. A feature doc on the remarkable story around the arrival of Gulf Oil to Whiddy Island and how ten years later, in 1979, it ends in disaster as fifty people lose their lives. In Development with Screen Ireland and RTÉ.I sit on the board of the Screen Producers of Ireland - Factual/Entertainment committee and on the Irish Screen Directors Guild documentary committee.Luckily, i grew up in west cork as part of a great family, and have been adopted by Crumlin, Dublin12.Married to an inspiring woman with two sublime children and Jarvis our grumpy wire fox terrier.Mid life crisis - I starting to play Cricket.....and I love it!! :)
