At the core of our programming work is this core belief - Despite incredibly complex and challenging conditions we see everyday, built upon a legacy of segregation, slavery and systemic oppression and poverty, educators can and must leave a lasting and powerful impact on the students and the staff they lead. We believe that our educators and their students play a critical role in systems change, and that educators both can and should empower their students and communities to experience and become agents of healing and change. In order to get there, our goal is to raise the bar for what we all believe kids & educators in Detroit deserve and are capable of and to center the experiences and voices of Black students and educators while doing so. -
