Reports to the Director of the Technology & Data Office. Responsible for managing the data governance function within the Department. Manages all data resources for the Department. Facilitates the school district data professional network. Delegates, manages, and implements educational data policy development regarding the seven pillars of data governance: definition, collection, security, storage, privacy, use, and destruction. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:• Serves as the Department’s Data Steward and Chief Data Officer, acting as a liaison between various federal, state, and local stakeholders to promote best practice in data governance and a culture of data-driven decision-making• Leads the development of the Department’s data vision and strategy.• Implements and manages a data governance organizational structure, propagating data governance horizontally and vertically through the organization and delegating data governance decision-making to key leadership roles within the organization• Establishes and implements policies in the areas of data definition, data collection, data security, data storage, data privacy, data use, and data destruction to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and Department standards• Ensures adherence to legal and regulatory requirements related to data privacy, security, and usage, such as FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act).• Provides professional development to staff on data governance policies, data management practices, and the importance of data integrity.• Coordinates efforts to integrate data from various sources (e.g., student information systems, assessment tools) to create a comprehensive view of data across the organization.• Continuously assesses and improves data governance practices based on feedback, technological advancements, and changing educational needs.
