Ardenton is a global private equity business, focused on building long-term partnerships to achieve growth. They are headquartered in Canada, with a corporate office in Manchester and OpCo's in Canada, North America and the UK.I took a 9 month contract as UK FD with Ardenton to cover maternity leave. The focus of the assignment was:- Ensuring smooth running and completion of the UK Group audit and tax filings. - Involvement in Global Finance team to ensure a successful restructure to enable exit of CCAA. - Review and assessment of ongoing OpCo management information.- Assistance within OpCo finance functions as required.A really interesting contract which involved working with all of Ardenton's UK OpCo's and their advisors, as well as the global senior management team of Ardenton Capital.

Vogue Sourcing Limited designs and sources fashion-wear for a variety of high street retailers. My role was to oversee the finance function - managing the team, liaising with banks, funders and other 3rd party professionals. As a start-up business it was vital to ensure suitable banking arrangements, systems and controls were in place to facilitate growth, along with close cash-management, accurate forecasting and efficient month-end processes/reporting.In addition to this, I worked closely with the finance function of A.M London Fashion Ltd a 'sister' company supplying their own brands into both high street and on-line retailers. My focus here was on process improvement - implementing improved debt collection procedures, designing detailed reporting tools to provide relevant insight quickly and efficiently along with streamlining month-end and statutory reporting processes.

A2E is a private equity business who invest in or acquire Mid-market industrial companies. The portfolio spans a wide range of sectors including aerospace, logistics, healthcare and education.My role was a combination of investment appraisal, portfolio management and both internal and external reporting.

I moved back into accountancy practice to undertake a similar role to the one I performed previously at Leonard Curtis/LC Corporate Strategies. During my short time in Industry I gained some valuable insights into the 'other side' of accountancy which I brought back with me to help aid stressed/distressed businesses.

This was my first move into Industry; my role was to manage the cash-flow of the business ensuring the various companies within the group had sufficient working capital to operate successfully. This required complex financial modelling to forecast the cash position of the company as well as day-to-day management of both the purchase ledger and sales ledger teams to ensure the required cash was being collected to meet creditor payments.

Working in business turnaround I dealt predominantly with companies in financial difficulty. We offered a variety of services to company directors to try and improve their position, from business reviews and viability studies to hands-on financial forecasting and monitoring. We also specialised in creditor negotiations, with particular expertise in dealing with HMRC.

Began training as a Chartered Accountant with Baker Tilly Manchester in 2006, working in the audit department. Progressed from audit junior to audit senior, responsible for running the on-site element of the audit, overseeing junior staff and ensuring the files were suitable for manager and partner review.
