About Adrian Wallwork
I am a published author (ELT and EAP). I have written nearly 40 books on academic / professional English for Springer Science (2.7 million full-text downloads), four general English books for the BBC, four course books (+ WBs and TBs) for Oxford University Press, four discussion books for Cambridge University Press and Scholastic, as well as grammar manuals and phrasebooks for Rizzoli, De Agostini and Vallardi. I am currently conducting informal research with PhD students on the use of LLMs (e.g. ChatGPT) for massively transforming the way non-native speakers of English write and speak in English. I teach PhD students from the Doctorate Schools from universities in Italy, Europe, the Middle East, and China. In 2023, through teaching students how to use a combination of Google Translate and ChatGPT, I improved their English accuracy from around 75% to over 95%. In 2024 I am teaching students that in fact chatbots can do everything for them, but only with creative and targeted prompting, plus a heavy dose of critical thinking. I already have 8 courses lined up for the 24/25 academic year.
