Robotic rehabilitation, aimed at restoring motor functionality in neurological patients, shows promise but requires further study on its effects on human motor control and recovery mechanisms. This study explores the impact of assistance in human-robot interaction on healthy individuals using a standard upper-limb rehabilitation paradigm with linear and curvilinear trajectories. Ten healthy participants engaged in radial and curvilinear tasks with and without robotic assistance. The study measured kinematics and EMGs to analyze muscle synergies. Results showed that assistance reduced errors, particularly in more complex curvilinear tasks, and slightly altered muscle synergies, suggesting that while robotic assistance enhances task performance in healthy subjects, its effect on muscle coordination is minimal. These insights contribute to optimizing human-robot interaction for motor recovery training. Show less
