• Hired five months after opening as second employee at a startup nonprofit social enterprise that distributes new, donated basic needs products from large retailers to area nonprofits to meet community needs and reduce landfill waste. Managed volunteer, retail, and warehouse operations while agency grew by 150 nonprofit members, 475 volunteers, and doubled monthly product revenue. • Duties: Grew and managed volunteer base, improved product merchandising to enhance nonprofit shopper experience, built rapport with shoppers and volunteers to bolster retention, served as thought partner to Founder, facilitated product intake and pricing, reconciled monthly financials in QuickBooks, developed job descriptions, hired and supervised Warehouse Manager & interns, and planned & implemented first member mixer.

• Designed and implemented in a newly created role a series of pilot projects, informed by research and outreach, to launch an interdisciplinary social innovation initiative leveraging university resources to support nonprofits and campus inclusion initiatives. Managed grant and programming to engage 45 students, 6 faculty mentors, and 13 nonprofits in sustained projects and internships: • Led as project manager to scope and facilitate four semester-long social impact projects connecting teams of students (4-6) and faculty mentors with emerging and primarily BIPOC-led nonprofits to build organizational capacity. Consulted teams on marketing, grant writing, evaluation, and curriculum design for nonprofits focused on youth entrepreneurship & wellness and urban farming.• Served as content expert & convener to lay foundation for credit program for currently or formerly incarcerated adults or youth.• Created curriculum and coached students in a year-long fellowship where they learned about social action and implemented an on or off-campus change-making project as part of a national movement to increase youth democratic engagement.

• Oversaw Civic Engagement Scholars program connecting 450+ students to year-long nonprofit civic engagement opportunities and educational experiences. Revamped program during pandemic to engage globally dispersed students. Revisions led towards a more holistic understanding of civic engagement beyond service (ex. philanthropy, advocacy, social responsibility), a deepened connection to Cleveland and social justice, and increased new & repeat participant numbers in future cohorts due to higher satisfaction rates. • Advised 17-member student Executive Council on planning educational events in committees to support Scholars’ program needs. Revamped committee structure to a rotating ad-hoc model to balance student workload, increase their connections to other council members, maintain their interests in becoming multi-year council participants, and widen the range of skillsets gained in council work.• Co-created and taught new & all-virtual Civic Leadership Launchpad, a semester-long seminar for 26 first and second-year students to understand the social change process and civic leadership skills, learn from changemakers, and develop personal civic action plans. • Supported Director in strategic planning, assessment, and budgeting for department. • Coordinated 15 large-scale service days for 400-800 students and 20-45 community partner sites per event. Developed student pre-service training model and a nonprofit partner toolkit to both improve risk management and deepen student engagement in experience.• Enhanced Alternative Breaks program by designing three new immersive service trips, implementing student Site Leader model, redefining breaks as issue vs. destination-focused, strengthening student learning development, and improving risk management.• Doubled CCEL Serves portfolio (i.e. weekly off-campus, small group service experiences at area nonprofits) to 19 sites, diversified nature of offerings to meet student interests, developed semester-long and flexible Serves categories, and improved student training.

• Via letter writing, provided incarcerated individuals with self-advocacy tools and reported systemic problems in confinement conditions to the Michigan Department of Corrections. Assisted with organizing public hearing at state capitol.

• Researched and summarized prisoner reentry best practices with a particular focus on pro-social support programs, edited public education materials, conducted surveys of reentry sites, and performed additional training/technical assistance projects.

• Acquainted 30-50 residents with the policies of the University while also assisting them with the transition to college by acting as a resource when they had problems or questions.• Worked 24 hours a day to promote a safe, multicultural environment in which all residents actively contributed to building community.• Voted “Resident Advisor of the Year” by colleagues for two consecutive years.
