About Adriana Arias
I am a Panamanian student currently pursuing a degree in Human Development and Family Sciences with a minor in Business and a certificate in Pre-Health at the University of Texas at Austin. Through this major, I have gotten to discover my passion for understanding the human behavior, their relationships, as well as their emotional and physical development. Although the path I would like to take with this career is still unclear, I am hoping to discover the infinite possibilities that exist out there for me through the experiences that become available. I have had various important and valuable professional experiences. I had the amazing opportunity to intern in one of the best banks of Central America, Banco General, in the area of Human Resources. Through this position, I learned the importance of taking care of our own employees while they take care of our customers. An experience that also made a huge impact on my education was in the Priscilla Pond Flawn Child and Family Laboratory as a research student. I learned key elements of the research process such as observation with valuable note-taking and behavioral coding. It was also complemented with a Child Development course that has guided me through my major. Thanks to these experiences, I have acquired many values and abilities important for the work space such as organization, discipline, structure and teamwork.Recently, I got to volunteer and intern at Make A Wish Panama for one month and a half, to help children and grant wishes to children with critical illnesses. It was such a valuable opportunity to support my community in Panama, grant wishes to children and enjoy with them. I learned to interview families and children, budgeting, planning of wishes and attending them. Sharing joy with the children during such an uncertain time of their lives was beautiful.I am an excited Senior student, ready to continue uncovering my passions, immerse myself in the workplace and take on new opportunities.
