In my role within the Population Health department at MedStarShah Clinics, I focus on value-based care initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes while reducing healthcare costs. I collaborate with healthcare teams implement strategies that prioritize preventive care, chronic disease management, and patient education, ensuring comprehensive care for the patient population while aligning with industry standards for value-based healthcare.

I have been part of Mision Pais Voluntarios since 2019. We have conducted several medical brigades to neglected areas in our Colombian Pacific Coast. On July 2024 we were awarded by the International Dermatologic League Society + World Congress of Dermatology for our Social Responsibility Activities performed within these brigades.

I am an experienced dermatologist with an holistic and integrative approach to my patients. I enjoy devoting time within office-hours to educate patients on their medical and life-style routines. I focus my practice on acne, rosacea, Co2 laser treatments, IPL, and other esthetic procedures. As director of my private clinic, also perform administrative activities including interactions with pharma representatives, strategic planning.

I have been affiliated with CIDEIM since July 2004. For over 12 years, I worked as a researcher leading projects focused on sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), specifically syphilis, and collaborated on studies of other tropical dermatological diseases, including leishmaniasis. As a Principal Investigator (PI), I was responsible for project planning, team leadership, national and international collaborations, KOL (Key Opinion Leader) engagement, budget planning, in-depth analysis, strategic planning, and maintaining the highest ethical standards.During this time, I was a member of CIDEIM’s Institutional Review Board (IRB), where I honed my expertise in ethics related to human subjects research. Additionally, as an STD expert, I contributed to Colombia’s Congenital Syphilis (CS) Elimination Strategy, which included helping to develop the National Guidelines for CS, incorporating rapid point-of-care diagnostic tests.As a leader in CIDEIM’s clinical research activities, I helped organize and conduct several educational programs for medical students, dermatology residents, and infectious disease fellows, including international participants. I continue to contribute to an annual NTD (Neglected Tropical Diseases) dermatology course we offer to dermatology residents and infectious disease fellows, and I also serve as an advisor for syphilis research projects.

Since 2019, I have been invited as a speaker at L'Oréal Dermatological Beauty events, helping dermatologists and sales-force teams gain a deeper understanding of cosmeceuticals and LDB products. I have successfully led the scientific organization of multiple academic events, including an international conference with participation from 8 Latin American countries (CERAN L'Oréal). Throughout my career, I have organized national and international events for the Colombian National Dermatology Association, managing the development of scientific agendas, coordinating with speakers (KOLs), and ensuring smooth execution. These experiences have equipped me with strong leadership, communication, and project management skills, as well as advanced medical affairs expertise, which I am eager to continue refining.

Responsibilities included conducting basic science research in the field of immunology of syphilis and Lyme disease under Dr. Justin Radolf’s supervision. Outcomes successfully included completion of translational science research activities including patient and ex vivo protocols which ended in successful publications.Training at UCHC allowed to develop and improve CIDEIM’s research team capabilities to scientifically characterize real syphilis patients immunological, clinical, and epidemiological patterns.
