Ever since my Dad drove me past a billboard with a yellow Ford Cortina stuck to it with Araldite, I wanted to go into advertising. Go on, Google it!40 years on, I'm Linked-in to the Art Director and Copywriter who created the campaign. Good, eh? And with more than a quarter of a century's worth of creative industry experience under my belt, here I am, still ‘doing’ advertising. But it’s not all Press, TV, Digital, Radio and 48-sheets these days. I get to work on loads of interesting stuff; new product development, commercial joint ventures, ideas incubation through educational partnerships, social enterprise start-ups – basically, the type of projects that involve solving business and/or communication problems with the application of creative thinking.I’ve been described as an ideas mentalist (I’m flattered); a passionate, driven and increasingly energetic ideas man with an insatiable appetite for good ones that work and bring about change for the better.I’m inspired by all sorts of folk; writers, designers, typographers and photographers... accountants, lawyers, bankers and entrepreneurs... teachers, midwives, plumbers and charity workers. Anyone can get the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end, simply by loving what they do and being bloody good at it.Outside of work, when I’m not in my inventing shed (no, really), volunteering at Mustard Tree (www.mustardtree.co.uk) or helping run a local youth club... I put most of my energy into trying to be the best and funniest dad in the world; mostly failing miserably according to Tom, Emily and Frankie. I is well embarrassing, apparently ;-(Specialties: I get asked to come up with all sorts of good ideas for all sorts of stuff by all sorts of folk; ideas to raise awareness, ideas to raise profits, ideas to raise funding, ideas to raise the bar, ideas to raise eyebrows or maybe ideas just to raise a few smiles.
