Part of the Defence Safety Authority (DSA), the MAA is the organization responsible for the regulation, surveillance, inspection and assurance of the Defence Air operating and technical domains. It ensures the safe design and use of military air systems.As the single regulatory authority responsible for regulating all aspects of Air Safety across Defence, the MAA oversight of all Defence aviation activity. Through independent audit and continuous surveillance of military aviation, the MAA aims to provide the Secretary of State for Defence (SOS), through Director General DSA (DG DSA), the necessary assurance that appropriate standards of Air safety are maintained in delivering operational capability.

Responsible for the recruitment of Officer candidates in East Anglia.To stimulate interest and market officer careers in the Naval Service within schools and universities leading to applications to officer entry. To attend careers conventions, exhibitions, fairs and provide information through appropriate media methods. To monitor the new recruiting ‘convergence’ process at all AFCOs within the ACLO3 region, and provide feedback as to its success. To identify, counsel and select candidates for entry as commissioned officers into the RN, and they are sufficiently prepared for RMPOC, FATs & AIB. To maintain good communication flow between the ARM and ARO, so as to identify issues at the earliest opportunity and develop a strategy to rectify. Provide support to any RN organisations visiting the ACLO3 region. This is to include support to the RNSPT, RMVT and RNPT, as well as any VIP visits. To provide divisional support to all AFCO staff within the ACLO3 region.

Responsible for the recruitment of Royal Navy Officers in the East Midlands area.Implement Convergence across all AFCOs within designated region, including introduction of CRP, RT & SIFT Interview for Officer candidates. Engage with all Schools & Universities within designated region. Ensure they are up to date with recruiting initiatives. Attend School/University/Public Careers events within designated region. Promote RNIPE and RN/RM career opportunities. Work with ARMs and provide monthly return to RRO & input into RORRS and RNCS contract renewals. Conduct SIFT interviews of Officer candidates. Filter unsuitable candidates and ensure timely production & submission of reports to AIB. Work with AIB to co-ordinate & allocate FATs, POCs & AIBs, ensuring candidates are thoroughly briefed & prepared. Supervise and coordinate POCs on RN acquaints & visits to HM Ships throughout the year. Represent the RRO as required. Take the lead on minor regional recruiting projects as directed by the RRO.

Carrying out frequent quality control checks on MF700 series documents, specifically the accuracy and condition of all 20(R) Sqn allotted MF700’s. Carry out the duties of the IV(R) Sqn Unit Flight Safety Officer (Engineering). Undertake the duties of OIC IV(R) Sqn Groundcrew Fund. Perform the duties of a Flight Commander. Perform the duties of a Divisional Officer .
