I'm an experienced manager, educator and consultant with depth of knowledge in organizational change management and technical expertise in renewable energy and sustainable water treatment. I enjoy consulting as a licensed engineer and certified sustainability professional with innovative teams in the energy storage, electric vehicle infrastructure, microgrid, and power utility industries. I've managed numerous teams in public sector, academic and industrial settings. I've conducted international research and facilitate entrepreneurial activities addressing Sustainability, Renewable Energy and the Water-Energy Nexus. I've published numerous papers in these fields, holds several patents, and have been an invited speaker at national and international conferences. The SRI Office is working across the organization to develop strategies, programs and policies to address many environmental concerns including energy use, conservation, pollution, environmental justice, and climate resilience. I support our organization’s adoption of Envision Sustainable Infrastructure Standards and renewable energy investments to complement our Climate Action Plan as well as support our emergency operations programs. I lead the development of Metropolitan's Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) reporting program, Environmental Justice Policy and our Climate Vulnerability Risk Assessments.

Led the development and implementation of Metropolitan's Water Cybersecurity Internship program in partnership with Tomorrow's Talent.     Adrian Hightower manages Metropolitan's Education Unit and is responsible for its annual budget and staff of six full-time employees comprised of professionals, paraprofessionals and administrative support. These programs serve students and teachers in pre-K, TK, K-12, college, vocational, university and adult education endeavors throughout Southern California. This includes oversight of Metropolitan's Diamond Valley Lake (DVL) Education Program and supervision of the DVL Docent Program. Adrian works closely with Metropolitan's member agencies to conduct water related education programming throughout our six county service area. The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is a cooperative of 26 water agencies and cities, serving 19 million people in six counties.
