Working as an I.T/Simulator technician as part of a regional Maintenance team from my office at RAF Cosford covering many parts of the UK and responsible for looking after a wide variety of IT and audio visual equipment. I am responsible for the planning, installation, population, Networking and Administration, maintenance and repair of I.T systems such as PCs, Laptops, Servers, LANs and Audio visual equipment. I’m very comfortable with all Windows platforms from Windows 95 through to Windows 10 having done the migration from each platform. I’m also very comfortable with Microsoft products such as Office and Lync. My roll involves answering the telephone or use of email to customers with software and hardware related issues and take the necessary steps to get the fault cleared which sometimes involves remote access or driving to site. I also maintain Flight simulators such as a “Weapons System Training Rig”, “Propulsion System Trainer” and “Lynx and Gazelle” Flying simulators which require working knowledge of hydraulics, electronics and ability to fault find down to component level to ensure that everything is fully maintained and working to a high standard.All the work undertaken has to be completed on time and successfully with pressure to complete the job as fast as possible so that training on the equipment can resume. Security cleared and I have also completed various training courses at TCAT College including A+, ECDL, Server 2008.
