Back in late 80s / early 90s BR Research was the place to be for innovative railway research. I progressed from student entry to gaining professional status as a Chartered Engineer (CEng IMechE).Projects included:• Research on high speed train aerodynamics.• Tunnel airflow modelling and smoke flows (including King's Cross Fire).• Consultancy for Channel Tunnel project.• Building a software control system for the aerodynamics moving model rig• Creating animation software for the visualisation of pressure waves within complex tunnel networks, with multiple train movements.
