I spent 18 years as an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in Brazil before relocating to Canada in 2022. My educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences with a specialization in Zoology and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences with a focus on Physiology and Pharmacology, both obtained from UFMG. Additionally, I worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Universitée de la Méditerranée in Marseille, France, and as a visiting professor at the University of Alberta from 2013 to 2014.Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in leading research projects in drug discovery, utilizing approaches such as Toxinology, Biochemistry, Molecular Pharmacology, Cell Biology, mass spectrometry and Proteomics. Currently, I oversee and manage the operations, budgets, and fee-for-service activities of the proteomic and metabolomic research at the Segal Cancer Proteomics Centre.My contributions to the scientific community include publishing over 100 peer-reviewed papers and other significant works. I have an h-index of 30, and my work has received over 2,400 citations. Furthermore, I have co-invented more than ten patents, four of which have been granted.
