Adrian Paterson is Lecturer in English at the University of Galway. A graduate of Worcester College, Oxford, and Trinity College, Dublin, and a former Irish Research Council (IRC) and Harry Ransom Center Fellow, he writes on nineteenth- and twentieth-century literature with a particular interest in literature and the wider artistic field from pianos to poems, broadsides to broadcasts, examining interplays of aurality, orality, print, art, music, performance, and technology in the material and immaterial forms of texts, pursuing well-known authors like Shaw, Joyce, Eliot, and Pound, and lesser-known musicians like Florence Farr and Harry Partch. This interdisciplinary attention is a keynote of his teaching: as tutor and lecturer in English at Oxford University, Bath Spa University, at Advanced Studies in England, Bath and now at University of Galway, he has taught a considerable range of subjects, student groups, and periods, including 5 Irish Research Council-funded PhD scholars. Curator of the multimedia exhibition Yeats & the West, currently on view at Thoor Ballylee, he is co-editor of the forthcoming Edinburgh Companion to W.B. Yeats and the Arts (2024), and two E-rea special issues on modernism (2018, 2020). Currently President of Modernist Studies Ireland, he is also a director of the Yeats Thoor Ballylee Society.
